So, it's been a good week here. My list is looking good. I've crossed off way more than I've ignored this week so that's happy. I also got a package in the mail and those always have a tendency to make my day. I've been looking for a piece or two to tie the lime-y/avocado green in the great room into the kitchen which has a tile backsplash with "pop bottle green" glass tile accents in it. So on my "relax for a while while perusing Etsy" break a week or two ago, I spotted this piece and I instantly fell in love with it.
It looks so much like the pupster to me and it has both the glass bottle green and the avocado green in it so I quickly clicked to buy it. I can't tell you how excited I was when I got the package and realized what was inside. Do you ever do that? Buy something and forget it's coming? I have it happen to me quite often. I probably shouldn't admit that "out loud" but alas, it is true. Anyway, I tore into the package and showed it to Roscoe who totally agrees with me that it looks just like him! Smart dog. He isn't one to argue with the mom. :) Now we just have to find the perfect spot for it.
Yesterday, I made a pilgrimage to the Mart. And yes, pilgrimage is the correct word since it's about 20 miles and that's a long way in my book! You see, the basement (also known as the It Kit Studio warehouse) is HUGE but it's not finished space yet. So the floors are concrete and the walls are concrete and it's just not a lovely place to hang out yet. It will be eventually... but right now it just functions well and I'm trying to be content with that. What I can't handle are the super cold floors and so I went to see the Mart about carpet. My original idea was to carpet the huge space with wall to wall carpet and then my oh so wise husband suggested that maybe I should wait on a billion dollars worth of installed carpet until the walls were finished. Oh, yeah. Maybe. So I settled for two amazingly beautiful large carpet remnants which will keep my feet warm for now and can be installed wall to wall when we have said walls finished. So this weekend we'll get those arranged and I think I'll feel more like hanging out down there to pack kits next week. But really, what I wanted to tell you about is the other treasure I found at the Mart. You see, it just "happened" to be that the Mart was having a Henredon sample sale in the clearance center. And I happen to love Henredon. Not enough to pay full price for it. I do have my financial limits when it comes to furniture and Henredon is only bought when it is on deep discount. I wasn't going to go back there because really I have no furniture needs. I have a house full here and quite a selection at the old house in town so really? Need? No. But, in an ideal world, I'd love to find a sofa or a daybed for the front "office-y" space in the new house. No hurry and Henredon would never have that kind of piece but I'll go back and just say hi to my designer friends who are having to "slum it" at the back room designer sale. So I casually walk in and say hi to a few people and walk around for a minute, admiring all the beautiful tables (which I don't' need) and the ottomans (that I lust after but again, don't need). And then, I spy with my little eye, a sofa against the back wall. Totally not a "henredon" kind of sofa. It's kind of casual cottage-y chic and it's got the most delicious LIME GREEN pillows with yellow dots on them. And it's got the cutest yellow and cream hounds-tooth fabric on the cushions. And it's screaming out to me to take it home. I avoid eye contact with said sofa and keep walking. I will not stop. I will not stop. I will not... well, maybe I'll just take a look at the tag and see how much it is. Dang. It's a pretty good deal... after all it is Henredon and so it's total quality. Ok. Walk away. Oops. My phone is ringing. I'll just dig it out of my purse and sit down for a second while I talk. Reception is so bad at the back of the store and if I've found a place where my phone actually has signal I shouldn't walk away, right? It's so comfy. And it's just perfect. What to do? Will Scott kill me? I have a meeting in 30 minutes, I should probably walk away. So I do. Darn. That was hard. I did go back later in the day. It's still there. I still love it. Ugh. Scott told me to buy it this morning. (Gosh, I love that boy) Maybe I'll have to run back by and see if it's still there today. I shouldn't... should I? Maybe I should. To be continued.... I'm sure... :)

you *do* have a bday coming up.... ;) that couch sounds yummy!!

Get it! You're so lucky to have a place with Henredon on clearance - I'm currently coveting some stools for my kitchen...but can't quite justify the price tags.
