I'm a quote person. I love finding a quote that says what I feel more eloquently than I could say it. And as I look around my house, it's becoming more and more obvious that I have a "thing" about buying pieces that say what I feel. Becky introduced me to Inger a year or so ago and I just love her stuff. It's just so happy and it usually has a quote that just speaks to me. I have several of her pieces and it's hard to resist buying more every time I go so I have to plan my visits wisely. Maybe I'll have to start giving them as gifts... Anyway, last time I was there she and I were talking about quotes and I pulled one up on my phone (the electronic filing cabinet that it is) and told her I'd love to have a piece done with it. She was excited to take on the challenge and so I left my order and went on my way. She called the other day to say it was ready to be picked up and I was trilled to see it. I was planning on putting it in the laundry room but I've decided I like it too much to relegate it to a room that pretty much everyone else just walks through and doesn't usually get visited by people who don't live here. So, I put it up in my kitchen. I think it says what we're about perfectly.
A while back, I picked up this piece and brought it home. It's a larger one and I really didn't have a place for it at the old house but how could I resist all those quotes? There was one quote that I didn't like but that was ok because it was the perfect opportunity to create a small artsy piece of my own to stick in that opening. It has the ideal spot in our living room on a small wall that looks into the kitchen. Happy.
I'm looking for a piece of funky yet kind of shabby art for the living room/hallway wall. I don't know exactly what I want but I'm sure it'll call my name when I see it. This house has more wall space than the old house and I'm enjoying the hunt for things that speak to me for the spots that are empty. Of course there are days when I'm tempted to just go out and buy "something" to fill in but I know that in the long run I'll be much happier if I watch for what's "just right". That Goldilocks knew what she was talking about... :)
The visit to Northwestern went really well yesterday. Chase felt like a celebrity with welcome signs all over the admin bulding when we got there! What a gorgeous campus. Wow. Such modern facilities (except for the guys dorms!). The people we met were amazing too and I can see Chase fitting in and loving it there. Today, we're off to Grace University here in Omaha. He'd still live on campus if he chooses to go there. I think the campus life part of college is almost as important as the classroom part.
