You are a tease. Seriously? 61* yesterday and 18* tonight? Are you kidding me? I didn't even get to drive the fun car yesterday and now it's way too cold. Bummer. Please come back soon and stick around will ya? I'm really NOT dealing well with the cold and snow flurries. I need Spring. Bad. Really bad. Thanks- Anxious in Nebraska
p.s. This weekend I hope to find a spot to hang this. I have big plans for it that involve a certain girl and boy's wedding pictures and canvases. :) I can't wait to get it all put together. :)
I was going to paint the frame... but I kind of like it like this and Scott wouldn't let me spray paint in the basement (and it's too stinkin' cold outside!) So for now, it'll stay silver and I can revisit the idea of blue in the Spring... :) It will be Spring sometime. Won't it?!??!
on my way to church this morning. But I couldn't help it. The sun was coming up and it was so pretty. I didn't look through the viewfinder. I promise. I just held my camera up and snapped the shutter to see if I could capture something that looked even remotely like what I see on Sunday mornings. I'm not usually out of the house that early in the morning any other day of the week so I rarely see anything but my house in the first light of the day. But Sunday mornings, I leave the house by 7:25ish when I sing on Praise Team. I love that ride. It's so quiet and no traffic and plenty of good praise and worship music on the radio. This picture kind of captures that peaceful ride. Happy Sunday. I get to work in the studio this afternoon. My bulletin board is coming along... just like I'd pictured it, so far! :)
several more to go. I have thoroughly enjoyed the time spent in my studio this week. It's been nice to "make something" that is just for me. It's almost exactly like I pictured it in my head and that rarely happens. Today I'm hoping to tackle my bulletin boards (and yes, that's plural) but Scott came home early because he was sick yesterday and now I'm not feeling all that great. He got up early this morning and left to make up time from yesterday so I was up before the crack of dawn too. In fact, the horizon is just now turning pink from the sun making it's appearance and I've been up for almost two hours. Fun times. I think I'll lay around for a while and see if I can gather up the energy to get to work. If not, there's always next week, right? Here's to a project crossed off the list and several more added. I love a project list, don't you?!??!
Well, the answer to that is probably no. But I have a feeling that won't stop me. :) I started my canvas project for my Master Bath yesterday. I have big plans for it but I needed some supplies that I picked up at bagels this morning. And while I was out yesterday, I stopped by the Country Sampler to check out their fabric selection. I'm SO happy that they've listened to people like me who desperately wanted them to carry some of the funky brighter and more modern fabrics that are available out in the marketplace. They've done a pretty good job of picking lines that are useable and fun. I love that there's a whole corner of the store that just screams "come over here and buy me!". It's a happy spot... that's for sure. I always come out with a little something and yesterday was no exception. I've got a bulletin board planned for the studio and maybe one for my laundry room too. I just want a place to hang little things that speak to me and if they turn out like they are in my head, they'll be super cute pieces. I love this house being a little more funky and bright. It's a nice diversion from my "normal" color scheme. I loved my more traditional house too but this brighter look definitely helps me enjoy this house more than I might have otherwise. Hopefully in a few days I'll have pictures to show you.
I spent the afternoon getting fabric organized for storage. I think I have more fabric than patterned paper. Seriously folks, I have another addiction. Fat quarters and half yard cuts abound in this house and I desperately needed to get them folded and organized so I could quit buying duplicates thinking that I didn't have them. Not a good thing to discover that you have multiples of LOTS of patterns simply because you're just too disorganized to keep it all straight. The stacks of fabric on my island are so happy with so much pattern and color. I snapped a couple of quick pictures of the stash just for fun. Now I just need to finish up the canvas project so I can sit down and sew my pieces for the bulletin boards. By the end of the week I'll have them both done. I hope.
it's rare to get a picture of him sitting up. He's normally "in my face" if I am anywhere near him. But today, he surprised me and actually "posed". Good puppy. :) Happy Tuesday! I'm off to the studio to work on a project and then going for Sushi this evening... hmmmmm... that should be interesting... :)
So, we took a quick trip. And the key word here is "quick". :) We left Omaha Friday morning just ahead of the snow storm and headed to Chicago for a whirlwind tour of the Chicago Auto Show. It was interesting. Very conservative as opposed to years past that had lots of concept cars and fun up and coming ideas. This year was very subdued. Porsche wasn't even there. :( We were all excited to see the new Panamera so we were really disappointed at their "non-appearance" at the show. Signs of the times, I guess. But we did all the "best" things at the show- fudge, pictures, free backpacks etc... The kids weren't as impressed as they'd been in years past. Friday evening we went to Ed Debevic's and enjoyed diner food and insults. Then back to the rental car place to exchange our total piece of crap van for a better one. (two bad tires in the front and the possibility of snow made us just a tad nervous.) Pizza in the room with Slumdog Millionaire for entertainment rounded out our evening. Saturday morning we ate our buffet breakfast at the Embassy Suites and headed out to Ikea for a healthy round of window shopping. I really wish we'd had a way to bring things home. There were several things I think I "need" but had no way to get home. Oh well. Maybe Katie and I will make a trip back soon. Or maybe we'll head to Minneapolis instead. And to end our weekend, we ate dinner at Stir Crazy. Love that place- Chinese that you assemble yourself and then they stir fry it for you. Delicious. All in all, a quick, fun weekend. Just the kind I like.
p.s. the picture? I have one just like it of Katie and Chase when they were just little kids. :) I couldn't resist the opportunity to take another one and my sweet big kids were cooperative. (did it have something to do with me threatening them with sleeping in the van?!?!?) Nothing like a little reminiscing...
